Invited to bat first, Delhi Capitals lost their 3 wickets in the powerplay itself. Both the openers who scored fabulous fifties in their last game went back early in this game. Prithvi Shaw gave a catch to the backward point fielder facing Jaydev Unadkat in the 2nd over of the match. In the 4th over, Shikhar Dhawan was also dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat. Ajinkya Rahane also went back providing Jaydev Unadkat 3 wickets in the match. DC skipper, Rishabh Pant managed to get through the half-century mark scoring 51 runs off 32 balls which included 9 fours. The biggest over for Rishabh Pant was the over of Rahul Tewatia, where Pant scored 20 runs to bring their team back in the match. The handy contributions by Lalit Yadav, Tom Curran, and Chris Woakes later in the match helped DC to post a total of 147 runs in 20 overs.
Chetan Sakariya of RR bowled the first over of the match and gave just 2 runs in that over. After which Jaydev Unadkat hit Delhi Capitals hard to destroy their top-order batting. Jaydev Unadkat with a great economic rate of 3.80 conceded just 15 runs in 4 overs and bagged 3 wickets in the match. Mustafizur Rahman took 2 wickets while Chris Morris got 1 wicket.
Chasing 148 runs, Rajasthan Royals didn't get a good start as they lost half of their wickets scoring just 42 runs in 9.2 overs. RR struggled scoring runs in their innings as a total of six batsmen didn't even reach the double figures. Skipper Sanju Samson also went back scoring just 4 runs. David Miller standing in the middle to hold himself in the crease scored 62 runs off just 43 balls to give some relief to the team as the wickets kept on falling. Rajasthan Royals required 43 runs in the last four overs when Chris Morris and Jaydev Unadkat hit some deliveries out of the park to provide RR their 1st win of the season. Rahul Tewatia also scored 19 runs to provide some balance to the team. Chris Morris scored a total of 36 runs facing just 18 balls to take RR home in this thrilling contest.
Delhi Capitals bowled superbly at the start of RR innings as they took 3 important wickets in just 4 overs and also kept on taking wickets at regular intervals putting them on the backfoot. Avesh Khan took 3 wickets while Kagiso Rabada and Chris Woakes bagged 2 wickets each in the match.
Rajasthan Royals have won this match after consecutively losing the last 5 matches against Delhi Capitals in IPL. Hence, they have ended their losing streak against DC.
