Batting first, RCB lost their 1st wicket in the form of Devdutt Padikkal who was playing just after recovering from Covid-19. Devdutt Padikkal scored a couple of boundaries and contributed 11 runs off 13 deliveries. Virat Kohli was joined by all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed after the departure of Devdutt Padikkal but not for long as he was dismissed by Shahbaz Nadeem in the 7th over. Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli built a steady partnership till 12th over and added some runs to the scoreboard, after which Virat Kohli top-edged a delivery off Jason Holder to returned to the pavilion. Glenn Maxwell, from the other end, saw a critical phase of RCB, where wickets kept on falling. RCB lost 4 wickets between the 12th over and the 17th over scoring just 19 runs in these overs. ABD also went back scoring just 1 run. Kyle Jamieson and Glenn Maxwell scored some late boundaries and took the score to 149 runs. Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell scored his 1st IPL half-century after 2016.

SRH was amazing with the ball as all the bowlers bagged at least 1 wicket. Jason Holder with his great skills took an important wicket of skipper Virat Kohli. Jason Holder took 3 wickets in the match bowling his full quota of overs. Rashid Khan was almost unplayable on this surface and sent back ABD and Washington Sundar. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem, and T Natrajan also bowled fabulously to restrict RCB at 149 runs.

Chasing a total of 150 runs, SRH cautiously scored 13 runs in the starting two overs of the innings. Skipper David Warner and Manish Pandey looked very comfortable in the middle as they dominated the spin attack of RCB. With David Warner and Manish Pandey on the crease, it looked very easy for SRH to chase the target but Kyle Jamieson provided a much-needed breakthrough as he dismissed Warner in the 14th over. Warner brought up his 49th IPL fifty scoring 54 runs off 37 balls. Requiring just 54 runs in 40 deliveries, SRH failed to reach the target as the whole game turned after the dismissal of David Warner. Rashid Khan hit a six and a four at the end but failed to score 16 runs in the last over of Harshal Patel.

Shahbaz Ahmed, the all-rounder of RCB bowled superbly with an economy rate of 3.50 and took 3 wickets in his 2 overs. Mohammad Siraj and Harshal Patel were also good with the ball as they both took 2 wickets each. Kyle Jamieson bagged an important wicket of David Warner in the 14th over. Yuzvendra Chahal didn't get any wicket in the match.

David Warner scored his 49th IPL fifty for SRH while Glenn Maxwell scored his first half-century after almost 5 years.
