Batting first, India gave England a target of 337 runs with the help of KL Rahul's century and Rishabh Pant's 77 runs. The total seemed much competitive, but English batsmen made it look as if it was a walk in the park for England as they won the match by 6 wickets with 6.3 overs remaining.

England enjoyed a good opening partnership as Jonny Bairstow hammered 124 runs off 112 balls after which Ben Stokes ensured England's win as he smashed 99 runs facing just 52 deliveries.

The opening pair of England once again provided a  great start as Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow carried on their great form from the previous game.

Jason Roy finally scored a half-century as he was dismissed in the forties twice in the T20 International series and in the 1st ODI as well.

Indian bowlers didn't seem to have any answers for the English openers when a brilliant piece of fielding from Rohit Sharma helped India to get a breakthrough as Jason Roy was run out for 55 runs off 52 balls, bringing an end to a 110-run partnership.

This wicket brought a light of hope for India when Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow put on a 175-run partnership off just 117 deliveries to completely take the match away from the hosts. Ben Stokes scored most of the runs against the spinners in his great innings of 99 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Stokes when he was just one run short of a well-deserved century, but the job till then was almost done as England needed just 50 runs off 83 balls at that point. Stokes smashed 10 sixes and 4 fours in his power-pack innings to put England in the winning position.

Prasidh Krishna dismissed Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow in the very next over after Ben Stokes was dismissed but by then the required run rate was just over 3 runs per over, and debutant Liam Livingstone and Dawid Malan ensured England's win.

Earlier, India invited to bat first lost Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan early, but KL Rahul and Virat Kohli steadied the ship for India as they both hit half-centuries.

Adil Rashid dismissed Virat Kohli trying to put some brakes on the Indian innings but Rishabh Pant came on and smashed 7 sixes and 3 fours.

KL Rahul scored his fifth ODI century as he was looking in his best touch.

Hardik Pandya also played a good short inning at the end smashing 35 runs facing just 16 balls.

From England, Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid bowled with a superb economic rate of 4.70 runs per over and 6.50 runs per over respectively. On the other side, the English batsmen scored most of the runs off Indian spinners.
