Due to this withdrawal, Anastasija Sevastova received a walkover into the fourth round, where she will face either 15th-seeded Polish teen Iga Swiatek, the reigning French Open champion, or 338th-ranked Ana Konjuh of Croatia.

The World number three tennis star, Simona Halep has withdrawn from the Miami Open singles and doubles events due to a right shoulder injury.


The 29-year-old Romanian tennis star is not ready to play again until next month's Billie Jean King Cup which was formerly known as Fed Cup.


The reigning Wimbledon champion, Simona Halep said that she began to feel pain after practice sessions at her first tournament since a quarter-final exit at the Australian Open.


"I’m very sorry I have to pull out of singles and doubles at the Miami Open, but my injury doesn’t let me play here as I expected," Simona Halep said in a statement.


Simona Halep also said "I’m sad that I can’t continue, I wanted to come here to give my best and play many matches but unfortunately I can’t. Hopefully next year I will be back healthy and better."


The 2018 French Open champion and the 2019 Wimbledon championSimona Halep was third-ranked behind world number one Ashleigh Barty of Australia and second-ranked Naomi Osaka of Japan, who won last month’s Australian Open title for her 4th Grand Slam crown.


Simona's withdrawal is a great loss for the tournament starting on 22nd March which will continue till 4th April. This tournament has already seen Serena Williams pull out to recover from oral surgery, while Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic including Dominic Thiem have skipped the ATP 1000 event.
