Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood opted out of the 14th season of IPL citing the raging pandemic as the reason for his withdrawal. Hazlewood told Sportstar that his main reason for opting out of the IPL is COVID.
This Chennai Super Kings pace bowler became the 3rd Australian after Mitchell Marsh (Sunrisers Hyderabad) and Josh Philippe (Royal Challengers Bangalore) to opt-out of IPL for this season.
Josh Hazlewood has been in bio-secure bubbles from August 2020 to January this year, but he said that he has no real issues with them.
He said "It all depends on how tight the bubbles are. Some are easier than others, and obviously, quarantine is a different story entirely. Everyone is different. I have no real issues."
Earlier, Josh Philippe of Royal Challengers Banglore had withdrawn from the league last month. Later on, Mitchell Marsh of Sunrisers Hyderabad also decided against playing the Indian Premier League.
The 14th season of IPL kicks off tomorrow with the opening match between MI and RCB where the defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who qualified for the playoffs last season. The final match will be played on 30th May in Ahmedabad, Gujrat.
