The Proteas were all out for just 292 runs in the last over. Fakhar’s 101 runs from 104 balls powered a respectable total for Pakistan.
The leftover job was done by skipper Babar Azam who scored 94 runs off just 82 balls and Hasan Ali who played an unbeaten knock of 32 runs from just 11 balls to take Pakistan well beyond 300 runs.
South African spinner Keshav Maharaj took 3 wickets and part-time bowler Aiden Markram took 2 wickets trying to slow down Pakistan innings.
Later, South Africa required a great knock from any of their batsmen to reach the target, but Pakistan’s bowlers bowled fabulously to keep control of the match.
Janneman Malan scored 70 runs off 80 balls, Kyle Verreynne scored 62 runs off 52 balls, and Andile Phehlukwayo scored 54 runs off 61 balls all registering half-centuries, but this was not enough to get to the total set by Pakistan. Mohammad Nawaz took 3 wickets to provide an edge to Pakistan's bowling attack.
Now, Both the teams are to play a 4-match T20I series starting on Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
